Workshop on Universal Periodic Review Mechanism on Human Rights Concluded

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Human Rights concluded today at the ministry's headquarters a workshop on the universal periodic review mechanism on human rights in cooperation with Geneva Institute for Human Rights, and the UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region. Representatives of different ministries, institutions, and civil society organizations are taking part in the event.


Qatar Affirms Interest in Promoting, Protecting Human Rights, Developing Labor Laws

The State of Qatar has affirmed its interest in the promotion and protection of human rights as a strategic option for the State in the provisions and principles of the Constitution and national legislation, which are in line with the international conventions and instruments related to human rights to which the State of Qatar has acceded, and it stressed that it has spared no effort to improve and develop labor laws.

The workshop was on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism adopted by the UN. Qatar Elected as FAO Vice Chairperson

The State of Qatar was unanimously elected as Vice Chairperson for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at the 161th session which kicked off on Monday and will run till April 12 at the FAO's headquarters in Rome.


Qatar Condemns Bombing of North Sinai

The State of Qatar condemned the explosion that took place near a market in the city of Sheikh Zuweid in North Sinai, Egypt, killing four security personnel and injuring a number of civilians.
