HE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met here on Thursday with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic Angelino Alfano.

The State of Qatar has called on the Human Rights Council and its affiliated mechanisms to pay adequate attention to the violations of the siege countries and to immediately end them, hold those responsible accountable and to compensate those affected in a fair manner.

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani on Tuesday met with HE U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, on the sidelines of the 37th session of the Human Rights Council, currently underway in the Swiss city of Geneva.

HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani met today with HE Dr. Mutlaq bin Majid al-Qahtani, the Foreign Ministers Special Envoy for Combating Terrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution, who currently is visiting Kabul to participate in the Second Kabul Process Conference

HE the President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas met today with HE the Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Strip Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi.

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani called on Human Rights Council to end the violations resulting from the illegal siege and the unilateral coercive measures taken by the siege countries against the Qatari people, and to hold accountable those responsible for these violations while compensating the victims.

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that the State of Qatar sees the major sporting events as unique opportunities for spreading the values of brotherhood, solidarity, peace and human rights.

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met separately on Monday with HE Swiss Foreign Minister, Ignazio Cassis; HE Japanese Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Manabu Horii; U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Prince Zeid bin Ra'ad Al-Hussein; HE International Labor Organization Director-General, Guy Ryder; and HE International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President, Peter Maurer.

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani reaffirmed that punishing the perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity and other serious crimes in Syria has become an urgent humanitarian necessity before being a legal necessity, noting that statute of limitations does not apply in these crimes.

The State of Qatar welcomed the adoption by the UN Security Council of resolution 2401, which calls for a cessation of hostilities without delay in Syria.
